Rollups

Our Roll-up shutters are engineered and designed to withstand strong hurricane force winds and large flying debris to give you peace of mind regarding your home and family during a storm.

Roll-ups have an aesthetic appeal with their low profile and clean look. We also have multiple colors to help blend with your home’s color scheme. We can even make multi-colored rollups with different color hoods, curtains and/or tracks all on one shutter for times when the color of the bandings around the windows differs from where the hoods will be placed. This helps them blend in and almost disappear.

Many clients use Roll-ups to minimize the amount of sun and heat that enters their patio and/or home with a touch of an electric switch, handy remote control or even a sun sensor.

Roll-ups also provide the added benefit of security. Whenever you plan to be away from your home just click to close them and you’re home is secure.

Manually Operated

Smaller Roll-ups can be operated manually to save on cost. Most windows and single doors can be operated manually. The weight and height of the shutter determine whether a shutter needs a motor or can be operated manually.  Openings up to 30 sq. ft. can be operated manually by using a cranking mechanism.  Openings with a finished shutter size between 30 sq. ft. up to 50 sq. ft. can be operated manually but must have an internal assist spring added to overcome the heavier weight of the curtain roll.  As an example, a 50 sq. ft. finished shutter size would be an opening similar to a 6’ wide by 6’8” high standard glass sliding door and would require an assist spring should you decide to manually operate the shutter as opposed to using an electric motor.

New Designs

Most Rollups look similar but there are many different designs. They come with different slats and different tracks. Both slats and tacks can change the strength and performance of the shutter.

At All Shutters & Screens, Inc. we use two of the latest Roll-up designs. Both have much improved track strength which allows for greater spans eliminating the need of storm bars for most applications.  Storm bars are aluminum braces attached to the shutter and the home and give added strength to wider openings.

Our main side rail track has four weather striping groves while most roll-up side rail tracks only have two.  Our tracks also have a deeper opening for the slats giving them more support.

We use self lubricating Teflon instead of felt in both our roll-ups.  Felt does not hold up over time but Teflon maintains its shape.

By having a second chamber in the middle, we can anchor through the center of the track instead of at the end chamber thereby increasing the structural leverage greatly.  This allows for increased spans and a reduction in the necessity to use storm bars.

End Retention

We also have what are called End Retention Rollups (see below). With these specially designed heavy duty tracks the slats are literally locked into the tracks on each side so they can not come out. This allows us to span large patio openings of over 22 feet wide without needing any storm bars. This is the best of both worlds. You can close them with the touch of a button and you do not have to assemble any storm bars to have full protection.
